Resque (registration number K2017149281) (“Resque”, “we”, “us”) provides IT support and managed services from Midrand, Gauteng. We respect your privacy and process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What we collect

• Website forms: name, email, phone, company, subject and message.
• Facebook/Instagram lead ads: name, work email, phone, company, number of staff, what you need help with and your area. Meta passes these details to us when you submit a lead form.
• WhatsApp and phone: your number, name, the messages and files you send, and call records.
• Service delivery: details about your devices, systems and users that we need to support you.
• Website use: IP address, browser and device, pages visited, cookies (see section 7).

3. Why we use it

We use your information to answer enquiries and support requests, give quotes and deliver services, send invoices and keep records, keep our systems secure, meet legal duties, and (with your consent, or as allowed for existing clients) send you service updates and offers. You can opt out of marketing at any time.

4. Legal basis

We rely on your consent, on what is needed for a contract with you, on legal obligations, and on our legitimate interests (POPIA section 11).

5. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with operators that help us run the business, under confidentiality terms: hosting and email providers, Meta (Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp), analytics providers, accounting software and IT vendors or distributors when we fulfil an order. We also share it with authorities where the law requires.

6. Cross-border transfers

Some providers (e.g. Meta, Google, Microsoft) store data outside South Africa. We use providers that are bound by adequate data protection laws or agreements, as POPIA section 72 requires.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses essential cookies only, which are needed for the site to work. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we add analytics or marketing tools later, they will be listed here. You can delete cookies in your browser settings.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures, including access control, encryption where appropriate, backups and staff confidentiality. If there is a security compromise, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

9. Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose, or as the law requires (e.g. tax records for 5 years). Leads that don’t become clients are deleted after 12 months, unless a client relationship starts.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

• ask whether we hold your information and request a copy
• ask us to correct or delete it
• object to processing, including direct marketing
• withdraw consent
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

To make a request, contact our Information Officer. We may need to verify your identity. Access requests are handled in line with our PAIA manual. Our PAIA manual is available on request from info@resque.co.za.
